Finally, the big thorn on the side of Meralco has been taken off.
Gary David shared his relief after the Bolts finally scored one, a close 87-83 victory over Star on Saturday.
“Itong panalo na ito, babalik ang kumpyansa namin sa sarili at sa buong team,” he said. “Natanggal yung tinik.
Pouring 26 points, including Meralco’s last 11 points in the game, it was the Bataan native who played the role of the savior for the orange-and-white. But more than his scoring, it was the collective effort from all the Bolts to play on the defensive end which proved to be the vital key in nabbing this game.
We have to play defense talaga. This game, dumepensa kami. Low-scoring, pero yun ang kailangan namin para manalo,” he said.
The 37-year-old also bared the commitment the whole team had as they fought through five straight losses, saying, “Nagusap-usap kaming mga players. Nilabas nila yung maibibigay nila. Committed kami ngayon as players, as a team, ginagawa namin.”
