Mika Reyes Shines in Preliminary Closer

The Meralco Power Spikers managed to take a set against Cignal, but ultimately could not keep up with the incredible 47-point output from the opposition imports. Ariel Usher’s 29 and Amanda Anderson’s 18 points carried the HD Spikers to a 25-22, 25-19, 21-25, 25-21 victory, Monday, at the San Juan Arena.

Despite the inability to string back-to-back wins together, Mika Reyes stood out in the contest, pacing Meralco with a commanding performance at the net. The De La Salle University fan favorite displayed her versatility, finishing the game with 15 points, while leading the team in both kills and blocks.

Liis Kullerkann delivered her consistent contribution of 13 points, while fellow import Christina Alessi rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11.

The result means Cignal finish the elimination round in third, setting up an exciting semi-final against second-placed Petron Blaze Spikers.

Meanwhile, the Power Spikers will have one more game on Saturday, 3pm, at Imus Cavite, to formalize the order of classification against the RC Cola Airforce.
